How do I choose the filming locations?
Rail Estate Search, we recognise that choosing a location in which to shoot is often one of the most challenging parts of creating a movie. In addition, you have to decide whether to shoot indoors or outdoors, which can often delay the process as you scout spaces and begin the processes of risk assessments, finance and more.
Rail Estate Search prides itself on simplifying the different planning tasks required. We will bear in mind:
Can you film in a railway station?
Of course! Several famous films use sites in our portfolio, including Mission: Impossible – Fallout at London Blackfriars Station.
Please note: there are several prerequisites before you can film inside or outside a railway station. Firstly, you need to gain permission from the owner of the building or space – in this case, the local authorities, as train stations are considered public spaces.
Rail Estate Search will handle all the practical challenges regarding filming sites for trains and railway systems. You can be in charge of the other scenes – whether retro 70s house interiors, industrial gyms or a victorian swimming pool – our business is here for the perfect train shot!
Is it better to film indoors or outdoors?
The best place to film depends on the aim of your shot and the scene requirements. For example, an intimate conversation or technical scene could be filmed indoors, where you can control the environment and noise levels. For more dramatic shots, particularly action-filled scenes, you may require a filming location with more pizazz. Natural light is often abundant in indoor and outdoor train station filming locations but may be more easily acquired outdoors. Alternatively, it is easier to use artificial lighting indoors.
Train stations are the perfect place to film indoor and outdoor shots, with filming locations available in over 230+ stations and growing with Rail Estate Search. You can enquire here about locations in London and beyond.
Does Rail Estate Search have any notable locations for filming?
Yes! Several exciting projects have used locations that we advertise. The 2018 blockbuster Mission: Impossible – Fallout uses London Blackfriars station as a backdrop. The action-packed scene follows Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, sprinting across the roof of the station across the Thames.
Other notable projects include the 2022 film Living, starring Bill Nighy and Aimee Lou Wood and based on a screenplay by famous author Kazuo Ishiguro. Filming for the project took place at Brighton station and included indoor shots across the site. Filming for additional scenes was conducted in the nearby Worthing, at Worthing Lido.
Lastly, the popular supermarket Aldi filmed a TV advert at Wandsworth Common in 2011. The advert comprises a teacher taking her students into a photo booth on the platform.
Rail Estate Search offers several environments and atmospheres within its filming locations, so you can always capture the perfect shot.
